Timber is a natural material and responds to temperature and humidity by expanding and contracting slightly. This can lead to dimensional deviations of up to 10%. This is a property of wood that is unavoidable. To ensure an exact fit and smooth assembly, the wooden parts are not pre-drilled. In the case of dried timber and although our screws are self-cutting, we recommend you pre-drilling holes in the thinner parts before mounting. This minimizes the risk of cracks. This also prevents the alloy of the screws from being damaged and helps to avoid premature rusting.
