Why is the timber not pre-drilled?

At Jungle Gym, we prioritise quality and ease of assembly. However, since wood is a natural material, it can expand and contract with changes in temperature and humidity.

Why We Don’t Pre-Drill

  • Wood can change dimensions by up to 10% due to temperature and moisture changes.

  • Pre-drilling could result in misaligned holes as the wood adjusts, which can affect the fit during assembly.

Tips for Smooth Assembly

  • Although our screws are self-cutting, we recommend pre-drilling holes in thinner parts, especially if the wood is very dry.

  • This helps to:

    • Prevent cracks in the wood.

    • Protect the screws from damage, reducing the risk of rusting over time.

By drilling holes as you assemble, you ensure a perfect fit and a sturdy, long-lasting playset!
