Why do the dimensions of the timber parts vary?

Wood is a natural material that responds to its environment. It can expand or contract depending on the surrounding weather conditions.

Reasons for Variation:

  1. Wood Absorbs and Releases Moisture

  • Wood is hygroscopic, meaning it absorbs moisture from the air in humid conditions and releases it in dry conditions.

  • This natural process can affect the dimensions and shape of the timber.

  1. Tolerance in Dimensions

  • We apply a plus/minus tolerance to the dimensions of our timber parts, such as boards, beams, and posts.

  • This means there may be deviations of up to 10% in measurements, which is perfectly normal.

No Worries for Assembly!

We’ve accounted for these natural variations in our design. All Jungle Gym equipment can still be easily assembled using the instructions provided.
