Good news! Our Jungle Gym timber is already prepared to withstand the elements:
Pine wood parts are pressure-impregnated to protect against wood rot.
Douglas fir naturally resists wood rot due to its durable properties.
This means both types of wood are strong and have a long lifespan without any additional treatment.
When Should You Apply Extra Treatment?
While additional painting or staining isn’t necessary for protection, there are a few cases where it can be helpful:
Sawn Surfaces & EndsAny cut or sawn areas should be treated with an outdoor wood preservative, even if the wood is already impregnated.
Pay special attention to parts that are in contact with the ground for added protection.
If you’d like to paint or stain the wood for a personal touch, we recommend using a water-repellent stain that’s compatible with impregnated wood.
By taking these extra steps, you can ensure your Jungle Gym stays beautiful and well-protected for years to come!
